{52 on Friday: Shallow Depth of Field}
19 August 2011Week 32 on Friday on the Bloom Forum. This week's theme is Shallow Depth of Field.
It's been crazy busy in the last few days. I thought having a vacation means more free time to take pics. How wrong I was! :) But I am just glad that I get to spend time to meet old friends and most importantly to take care of my father.
Here's my take for this week's theme. These are my mother's spools. My mom used to be one of the finest embroiderer when she was really young. She became an embroiderer so that she could use the money to pay for her tuition fee. She continued doing this until she had me and she even embroidered all my baby clothes (which are still in good condition and I used them for Ms. J). That was like 37 years ago. She still keeps the spools and the old sewing machine. So when I arrived home a week ago, these are one of the things that I immediately looked for to be photographed.
Here's for you mom. Hugs!
Please continue the circle by visiting Kate of the Rancher's Wife Photography. I am sure you'll like what you'll see.

{52 on Friday: Summertime}
12 August 2011It is week 31 on the Bloom Forum. Last week's theme was Nature and this week's theme is Summertime!
I felt that this year, winter was brutal (with several snow storms in NY) and was persistent to stay. So I was ecstatic when summer finally arrived.
Summertime is this week's theme on the Bloom Forum and there are many words that I can come up with that relates to summertime (in my version, of course). Those words include watermelon, vacation (oh yes!), summer dress, bright colors, ice cream, picnic, balloons, sweat (yes, I had to include it. LOL), water sprinkles, bubbles, free (I don't need to wear thick jacket and sweaters), and of course the cliche ones (but my old time favorites)...
BEACH!
and fresh, green grass at PARKS!
What are your summertime favorites? Let me know by leaving your comments :)
It's been a real pleasure to share this weekly challenge with 15 other amazing photographers. I am sure they will post beautiful pictures for this week's theme. Start by visiting Kate of The Rancher's Wife Photography. I can't wait to see her take on this week's theme.

{52 on Friday: Nature}
05 August 2011First I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all the encouraging, lovely, and comforting comments on my previous post about my father. I really appreciate them!
This week's theme on the Bloom Forum is Nature. One of the reasons why I don't join gym (besides laziness and 1,000 other excuses) is because I love outdoor and nature. I would go crazy if I had to stay home the whole day. I love going to gardens, parks, and all things nature related. Although I love nature and outdoor activities, I am not really into camping. Unless the camp site has a clean bathroom. LOL.
Some of you also asked how I did the star bokeh when I did the On the Shelf theme. It's super easy and I promise I'll do a tutorial when Internet access is more reliable. :)
I share this weekly challenge with 14 other talented women. To see their takes on this week's theme, please start by visiting Kate of The Rancher's Wife Photography.
