My dear little Jo,

Congratulations on completing 4th grade! I know this particular school year was not easy for you. After three wonderful years at the previous school, you had to enroll in a new school, adjust to a new environment, and try to find new friends.

I am fully aware that the road was not easy. But I am so glad that you are able to maneuver it. Not only you made friends, you also learned different new skills.

You learned to play trumpet properly
You learned to stand up to those who didn't speak truthfully
You learned to reason with me
You learned how to accept changes that are happening in you
...most importantly, you learn to be true to yourself

You came home yesterday with a the Cooperation Award. You told me that that award was for working hard and for helping those around you.

It means a lot to me, and I hope it means a lot to you too. It may be just a printed award, but to me, it speaks volume about who you are as a person.

Although I really don't want to see you growing up, I am happy to see the kind of person you're growing into.

5th grade is going to be a different story. There will be many more things you have to learn and to adjust, and I am sure it will go for both of us. I look forward to sharing this journey together. I'll be there with you, every step of the way.

to the life bringers,
the givers of breath.

Thank you
for all you endured.
for the swollen belly
screaming that serenaded me
into existence.

For the stirring hands
and the soothing songs
and selfless sacrifice
to settle
any soul sickness.

We are all half you,
and all we have
is all you have given.

You are the dancing reminder
that sometimes
'thank you'
feels far too
small.

Off to Philly we go

Off to Philly we go

This is actually a continuation of "The Dolls are Alive" post.

We headed to Philly for a short trip, spent the first day venturing antique malls. And spent the next day in the city. We visited the Benjamin Franklin museum and it was quite a perfect timing as Jo had to write an essay about him. She really enjoyed that visit because she could see many of his famous inventions that she read in books, and actually wrote a blog post about it.  :)

Reviews from Yelp said that the Franklin Fountain ice cream shop is the place to go for ice cream. Long line, narrow shop, hot. But we didn't give up. Finally got our huge scoop of ice cream and all were happy.

Tired legs but happy hearts

Tired legs but happy hearts

Summer Friday at the office started last week. YES! And I actually had a plan! *smirk*

I took her to The Metropolitan Museum of Art and it was a day well spent together. She with the real map and I with the family map (and I still got lost), we explored almost all parts of the museum. She took on the Percy Jackson challenge and was actually good at it. She read the map, led the way, ventured the museum, and found all items listed in the challenge sheet.

We sat at the rooftop of the museum to enjoy some sun and lunch. We mistakenly thought an art installation as a construction. :(

We ended the day with tired legs, but happy hearts. And we also picked up some ice cream on our way home!

I took pics at the museum with my phone and still too lazy to transfer them to my computer. So these are pics that I took when we got home just before sunset.

One of a Kind Precipitation Dress

I've been a fan of CourtneyCourtney one of a kind dresses and she also loves every one of them.

She calls this The Precipitation dress :) and that day, we decided to spent an afternoon at the Queens Botanical Garden. There were many cherry trees at the back of the garden, but there were only two small cherry trees that still had the blooms and of course every one would like to take pictures under the trees. :D

The daffodils were in full blooms, though.

Then she noticed a withered tulip laying on the ground during our walk in a garden. She picked it up. The stem was limp and the petals almost fell of from the stem. She asked, "How can we save this?" I tucked it in my jacket and insert it in a bottle full of water when we reached home. We checked it back an hour later. The stem was steady and the petals all perked up like it was just about to bloom. It lasted for 5 days!
