Letters to My Daughter, August 2014
31 August 2014
My dear Jo,
So we went home (Jakarta, that is) last July to visit our
families and friends. I am glad that this trip gave you an opportunity to meet
your grandparents (although my heart still aches that we didn’t see Oma Yuli in
person this year) and your friends, oh yes… and my friends. J
I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to take care of
Opa Win and gave him 90% of my time while we were there. When I was supposed to play cards with you, I fell asleep and you let me. You asked me to prepare for Opa's lunch and feed him first before yours because you said you could wait. Thank you for being
so flexible and so accommodating. Thank you the warm hugs and pats on my head
when I cried because I felt that I neglected you. You really are a little
person with the biggest heart.
I am glad and thankful that for a bit part of that trip and
for this summer, you were able to slowly find your true self. You learned to
roller blade and big thanks to Om Edwin, you fell in love with skateboarding as well. You
learned about your passion and what you like, and made a declaration that you
are a sporty girl who loves all things outdoor. You definitely get itchy feet
if we stay indoor too long. J
