Letters to My Daughter, May 2015
26 May 2015I thought I knew everything. I thought I could teach you everything.
The truth is, you also teach me many things.
One of that many things is that you're teaching me to have hope and not to give up hope. It started with a simple thing: both of us running, trying to make it on time to the bus station so that we didn't have to wait for another 20 minutes for the next bus. I glanced at my watch quickly, grabbed your hand, and said, "Oh no. I don't think we're going to make it."
And you quickly replied, "We have hope, mommy. Don't loose hope. I have hope we can make it."
It startled me.
And yes, we made it. We made it on time to the bus stop and we did catch the bus.
Then on another occasion, when I shared the news that there was a possibility for me to go to South Sudan. But now it seemed that I won't be going at all. You looked at me and again said, "Don't loose hope, mommy. There's always hope. Keep praying."
Thank you for teaching me this. You keep me going!
I pray that you too, will never lose hope and will never lose faith. And that you'll remember these stories, when it seems that things are not going into the direction you want them to be. And I'll be there...always.
I love you, so much!
Bunda
